Hello From Wisconsin
« on: July 27, 2012, 03:15:33 PM »
Hello to all.  I have been a paid machinist for over 30 years.  I have a 9x20 lathe and a 7x10 lathe in my basement.  I have a mill/drill round column with a rotary table and a vise.  Most of the time the machines sit idle (I think they might be lonely!).  I seem to spend most of my time here.  I've built a couple of oscillators of my own design, and a couple of finger engines.  I have a couple of sterlings that I built, and an electric solenoid motor.  Most of my work is very crude, not like the show pieces that I know you fellows can produce.  I've been in awe of your talents, all of you.  I've been a member for a long time, of several forums, but mostly just lurk and watch.  Hopefully I can contribute something here, for a change.  I'm on a rural dial-up connection so big pictures and tube vids are hard for me.  Looking forward to my time here.

Welcome Davyboy  :hi:

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!

Welcome Davyboy. :hi:

Help is at hand for your slow connection.

If you follow this link, and understand it, download the free program and use it, it will allow you to get 800x600 sized photos squeezed down so they don't take a lifetime to upload, and watermarked if you want it.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Bogs, I got started on that Faststone editor just a while ago.  It works really well, easy to use.  I will post some pics of my engines and some tips, as I get them sorted out.   But first, it seems like my lathes have not been idle after all.  I used them to turn out some fishing plugs, they work real well, go get 'm.
