Straight 6,,maybe
« on: February 17, 2013, 07:49:01 PM »
Hi!
I have started a bit on a new projekt, an Inline 6.
I use R Cox open six drawings for crank and cam but will try to build it closed watercooled.
I dont have any drawings for that but I  just go ahead anyway and hope it will work.
Carved out the block today (30 L chips)

Nice looking so far.  Thanks for including the pen so we can get a sense of the size.  I will be following along.

Should be an interesting project.  I built a 2 cylinder inline version of Randall's engine, pretty much like his.  Just curious, why do you want to close it up and water cool it?

Chuck, I want it to look  more real and as I have run the Hoglet for a while I dont like the oil messing around.
I also go for an usual distributor and timingbelt intead of chain as in the drawings.
The most different is the crankcase that I will built up and put rollerbearings on the crank 5p and also on the cam and
make ,hmm dont know the name for caps or how to say over the bearings.
Well as someone said, I dont know what I´m doing just doing it

Great start! An in line six will be a great engine.

I had several straight six cars. The engines were bullet proof but everything else on the car would rot out.

Thanks for interest boys!
Yea, I like the six, they run smoothest also had some big ones in tractors and a car.
I was down in the garage tonight making the first cyl liner and the pipe I had to it makes the ready bore to
27,65mm that makes 137 cc. Would sound good if I get it to run.

Some more progress.
Have turned the liners of steelpipe. Bore is ca 27.66mm.
Have to lap them a bit so I will try doing a expanding brass tool that I have seen here.
Will carburundum valve paste do it? Thats what I have.

Did you use the same paste for your Hoglet?  I would use the same method you used in the Hoglet.
