We are up and running

I just can't believe that from late this afternoon until now we have had such a large response of new members.

If we can now just send out to our friends and fellow engine makers and let it be known that we are here, we should be able to start to get a real good core together.

There are some things that need to be got up and running on the site, new headings etc, but if you could just bear with us (until we get a website specialist on board admin, other than our benefactor), then over time we can configure it just how we want it, concise and to the point, but still understandable to new and maybe less experienced members. We don't want to confuse people with over complication and too numerous headings. We can discuss all we want a little later, when the euphoria has worn off a little.

There are already a few points that are not working correctly, but again, things will definitely improve.

Lets just enjoy our new site.

You are quite right Chuck & Dave, with the members we are getting on board, we must make it.

Even HMEM members, there is nothing stopping them posting in both places if they want to.

We are not in competition with anyone, having another site just gives people more choice and freedom.

I will just let people know what is going on at this time.

There will be added a few more admin personnel over the following days/weeks.

We are trying to get one from each major continent, as this is an international site, not just a UK one. By doing it that way, we should have at least one admin available to sort things out while others are in the land of ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Chosen for ability, not 'jobs for the boys' like a few other sites I know.

Moderators will come a little later, again from all continents and I think more than one mod to a main heading, maybe even 3 or 4, doubling up headings between them. That way, if anything crops up, there should be someone available to calm things down or make decisions.

If we can get it right from the very beginning, I think it will benefit everyone.

I would just like to point out that it was not myself who set up this site.

That was all done by a good friend of mine after I made a plea on HMEM for someone to come to our rescue.

I am only here to get everything and everyone settled down.

As far as I am concerned, if everyone behaves themselves, yourselves can make this site into whatever you want, you are working with a blank canvas. You have seen what can be done on other sites which have been running for years, you can do the same thing almost straight away.

There will be a few display changes going on, like easy to understand headings etc, and a few posts might need to be swapped about so they are in the right places, but those will be our problems, not yours, you just go ahead as you have always done, and turn this site into a comfortable armchair.

As of a few seconds ago, 71 members, and more joining every minute.

Not a bad start at all, and almost all of them are core members with lots of experience.

We just need to get the beginners in here now, to teach them all we know. But I think they will drift in later.

This seems to be THE PLACE to be, since a lot of the interesting people from HMEM has signed up here already.

As for the minor things, well - things take time ....

One of the quick ways to get Google to notice is if linked from other sites that are regular searched by Google.
