Cake
« on: February 07, 2013, 02:14:56 PM »
Well, it said "other things you do that might be of interest" or something along those lines. And I thought "Well, who doesn't like cake?"

So last sunday I got challenged to make a cake. So I did.

It got me some brownie points from the girls at work anyway, and it was jolly tasty. But it did detract from shop time a fair bit.

Still, cake is good.

Although I prefer egg and bacon sammiches.

What??.....no recipe to go with those tasty looking pictures?  That definitely looks good enough to skip a little shop time for :)

Oh I should post that really. It's one I found on the interwebz, I'll dig it out. Sometimes you just need a slice of cake to get through everyday life.

Here it is. They have tried to make it look healthy and stuff. I ruined that of course, by pouring sugary goodness in the form of an almond glaze all over the top of it. It goes very well with coffee. ;D

So the basic shape is created similar to making a casting.  Interesting technique to get a fairly complex shape.  Thanks for the tip.  ;)

But, as opposed to casting, heat is used to solidify the material. Fascinating and mind-boggling stuff.

:disappointed: I am not a cake person: give me a glass of good red wine and a cheese board and I am in heaven .

In general I prefer wine and cheese too. However, since a nice young lady challenged me to make a cake, a cake was made.

Although the nice young lady enjoyed the cake, that was the end of the matter. Damn waste of time.

Still, I enjoyed it. I shan't enter into the "what is a good red wine" debate, since I already know the answer. :naughty:

What would be funny would be to make a big round regualr cake, and then machine it into a bundt cake.

Any wine can be improved upon it just needs the right company to share it with ;)
