Thanks Ade....this should make the forum more stable and hopefully your life easier too, once the transfer is done.

Are you still staying with the simple board software ?

I hope so because I like it.

Chris, the forum software and look is staying exactly the same

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!

You may have noticed some more downtime earlier this afternoon (about 1420 GMT).... amazingly this wasn't the server, and took the entire daily.co.uk operation offline for about 10 mins.

You can probably imagine what I was thinking, but here's a clue: :   :censored: :cussing:  :killcomputer:  :help:

Luckily, after 10 mins, all is well again... just "one of those things"...
Cheers,
Ade

Thanks for putting in the work for this transfer.  I have become addicted to this forum and the people here, unexpected down time like in the past makes me feel funny :)

Hi,
I just read your procedure for fixing up the hosts file for the interim period while the DNS clears.

I believe what I will do is simply type the IP address (195.26.90.15 ?) directly into the URL bar at the top of the browser. Should work fine, and it's a lot more straightforward than messing around with the hosts file.

Tim,

It won't work I'm afraid - the new hosting plan isn't on a dedicated server; the IP address resolves to many websites. The webserver uses the name you type in the browser bar to tell it which site to serve up.

You can try it now - type the IP address in & see what you get.
Cheers,
Ade
