New castings for my Collection
« on: December 02, 2020, 05:42:10 PM »
Today I did a socially distanced 420mile round journey, starting at 5 this morning did 10 hrs driving, down M40, A34, M23, M25, A1, M1, A5 and home

Collect tyre for one friend, Bentley Dynamo and Dizzy for another, delivered magazines for another and collected a few bits for myself. One journey saved four.

Quite pleased with my bits.

Castings for Alyn Foundry RLE engine

Castings for Rider-Ericcson Hot Air Pumping Engine

Jones and Shipman Sine Vice.

Castings will join the queue.

So Surus sold you some of Jo's castings out of the cupboard, huh?   :lolb:

Chris,

No unfortunately not.  I had to find these myself.  I'm sure with the size of Jo's collection she would not have noticed if he had. :LittleDevil:

Hi Colin.

Did you get the Brass number plate with your R.L.E. kit?

Due to a nasty stomach upset I haven't been to the supermarket this week but it's top of the list for next weeks shop. And no, it wasn't dodgy Crabmeat.    :lolb:

Cheers Graham.

They look good  :pinkelephant:

There was another R-E turned up last week which sold for the same sort of money you paid for yours but it had been started

The screaming sounds and later finding the blood splashed all over the walls would have given it away   ::)

Orphaned Mery come up one ME Classifieds today if you still want to add to your collection. It's tempting but too much done for my liking, you won't have to fight Surus off as he already has a set of pristine castings.

Graham,

Yes did get the brass plaque, but it does not have a number stamped on it.  Do you know what number it would have been? Hope you feel better soon.

Jo,

Yes they all look good.  Is that Surus's blood or mine.  :)

Jason,
That looks rather complex and after the last few days I'm not sure I would get away buying it at that price.

It would have been yours  ::) By the way he keeps acquiring stuff I can confirm he has no concept of money as he doesn't need any he just spends mine  :noidea:

Blimey, that's an awful lot of money for the Mery. I think I'll hang on to mine.

I'd say it was virtually completed and about ready to run.

Without knowing who the original purchaser was Colin I can't really help you sorry. Although I used to stamp every plate before despatch. By the looks of it, it might be quite late in production perhaps one my fatherinlaw sold when I was poorly.

Cheers Graham.

Set of Mery castings would probably be over £1000 to us by the time you have paid postage on a heavy kit, duty , VAT  & fees onto the $725 cost.

As you say looks just about ready to run so quality of workmanship and how much it has deteriorated would come into it.

We are not going to stand in your way Jason.

My rule of Thumb is a second hand set of castings should not cost more than half the new price.

Certainly looks an interesting engine. What does your pristine set of castings look like.

Surus having seen Jason's link by the end of this evening I am suspecting they will be a lot more shiny than they were last time I was allowed to see them  ::)

Some of those look very shiny. I reckon you’ve been doing a lot of fondling of those this evening.
