« on: November 30, 2020, 12:37:38 PM »
I need a new lead screw for my lathe with the following thread Withworth fine 5/8" x 16 right threads per inch .
Can anyone tell me a reference source for yard goods with this thread. Preferably from Europe.

Hello, suggest you try GWR Fasteners Limited- they have similar items for sale on eBay.

I have measured again and must fundamentally revise my statement.
It is not a 5/8 inch thread. The outer diameter measured with the micrometer is 14.95 millimeters. The pitch is exactly 16 threads per inch. I could not determine the flank angle correctly, but it is not a 55 degree or 60 degree thread. Because of the pitch I think it is an AMCE thread.
I measured the core diameter with a sharp caliper and it is 13.4 millimeters.
I can't remember why I came up with 5/8 inch.

Bruno, where was the lathe made? It is unlikely to be Acme with that diameter what about DIN 103?

The machine was manufactured in Taiwan.
It has a lead screw with inch pitch. All other feed spindles are metric. All screw connections are also metric.
The spindle nose has a DIN 800 mount with an inch thread of 1 1/2" x 8 pitch.
