Hello from North London
« on: November 21, 2020, 05:56:53 PM »
Hello,

I've lurked on this forum for long enough, I thought it was time I posted.

I have a Sherline lathe and milling machine with CNC rotary table.  I also have a few vintage bench drills and a 8mm watchmakers lathe.

What I don't have is a workshop.  We live in a flat and everything is stored on bookshelves or in wooden boxes and gets taken out whenever the (very sturdy) kitchen table is free.  This limits me a bit as it has also become a home office during the crisis and we have to eat off it occasionally!

For the last few months I have been making a 1:12 scale Cosworth V8 DFV Formula 1 engine.  It will be a 2-stroke running on air (or CO2?) with a bore of 7.2mm and a stroke of 5mm.

I have posted a bit of a build log on the Model Engineer Forum so some of you may have seen this before.  As soon as I work out how to use a photo hosting site, I will repeat it on here.  I think this forum is a bit more specific to my project.

Cheers

Steve

Welcome to MEM Steve.

As a Sherline user myself, I'm looking forward seeing your build log.

You are able to post pictures directly on here without having a hosting site. The only problem with doing it that way, is that you are unable to post comments between the pictures like you can if you're using a hosting site.

For a hosting site a lot of us here use Coppermine: https://listerengine.com/coppermine/index.php

Steve, you can also use the links from the photos that are in your album on ME rather than host them again elsewhere, open the album, click the photo and then right click and select "copy image address"

Welcome Steve.
Looking forward to following your build.
Nothing wrong with kitchen table modelling, a lot of us have been there and enjoyed every minute.
